FRANCHISE Magazine Basketball Pop-up at Space15Twenty
About two weeks ago when people were caravanning to the desert for Coachella (weekend one), we had our FRANCHISE Issue 01 debut in Los Angeles. For everyone who couldn’t make it — here’s what went down.
The celebrations began with an all basketball pop-up at Space15Twenty — Urban Outfitters’ concept store — where guests scored the first issues back from the printers, perused dead stock NBA trading cards and battled it out on the digital court, NBA Jamming with the contributors and magazine staff. Nostalgia levels were high. Artists Lauren Fisher and Pete Deevakul were also around, signing limited edition posters of their work that appears in the magazine. Posters, memorabilia and mags aside, visitors also got a chance to snag some official FRANCHISE t-shirts.
There was no shortage of musical talent, either. Our Editor-in-Chief Justin Montag and Style Director Ilirjana covered DJ duties with support from Sé Luné who played a set. After the pop-up, guests packed the rooftop of the Ace Hotel DTLA where the party kicked up a few levels with the help of some very special guest DJs. Mess Kid got the decks warmed up for Diplo — who had the crowd up on chairs, hands in the air — and Kanye-collabs DJDS closed out the night. It was not to be missed.
